the first 4 of a billion scrap pieces of scrap paper i'm drawing on for the scrap paper project.
...
more james jean, a kind of draw battle/convo.
of interest: 5, 10, 14, 16, 18, 27, 31

have i mentioned fumi lately? she launched a new website. in addition to her shows and artjobs, she's participating in the lovelydesign beautiful scrap paper project.

...
hahaha creepy:
"Eric, I see you're involved with the Beautiful Scrap Paper Project
...and checked out your own site.

Nice! Your stuff would play pretty well to the kind of art directors who look for artists on TheIspot. What're your thoughts on posting a portfolio with us?

Dave Tabler"

i got the creepy vibez, so i asked fumi and she got one too!

"Fumi, I see you're involved with the sketchel art project at Jeremyville.com" ...and checked out your own site.

so did matt. i'm not sure how to respond. the cut is 75% to artists, 25% to him, but it just feels weird. go look at the theispot.com.

the opening was last night. huge crowd that kept coming and going. every ten minutes it seemed like it was all new people. 11 people unrelated and unknown to me, touched me. i was pretty freaked out for a lot of it. like being in the city. noone unknown really talked to me about the big drawing. mark perlaman said he liked it and where/how i am working. i overheard an older west-county looking guy mentioning how kurt teaches @ ssu, and now there is a "whole school of people" who draw like him. i was a bit exasperated by that, but i didnt bother confronting him as i dont think it is true. i know anyone who has had kurt as a prof has had to deal with that as well. as far as i know, noone bought anything of mine, though many things seemed to sell. met some knew people who are interested in drawing night. had some funny coincedences. oh i met the lady that bought this years ago, that was pretty cool.

unrelated and unknown people seemed to like the big drawing, but noone really wanted to discuss it. im not sure what i was expecting. maybe i wanted people not to like it, or to get up in my face about it. or just to talk about art.

I have dropped everything off and am now free to waste my time.
...
i also picked up a large sketchbook moleskine today. shawn's always been a big fan and i can't help appreciate the technology and craftsmanship to them. i wasnt too impressed with the paper type/quality when working on the one that shawn and i are trading off (in theory) but i was able to vary up what i do a bit to make it work. the pages have no tooth so it prevents me from doing my thing but i think it might lend well to graphite.

i think i've contracted ben raff disease... i think everyone hates me and i think i smell. oh and the no touching thing too.

i guess i forgot to put deoderant under one arm. i cant remember the last time i smelled myself. it's been at least since junior high since actual sweat stained a shirt. also:
Q. why do my armpits sting?

A. because i took this grapefruit bathroom spray stuff we have here at work, sprayed it onto napkins and stuck those in my shirt.
ow.
...
also i had no idea a rash could form so fast.

holy shit.
i just set up a 3 WDS router based cloud from my house on one side of dutton to drk's house on the other side. 3 linksys wrt54g routers, 2 2.2 and one 1.0. all of them are running sveasoft rc6a. it's raining and shitty out, and dutton is a 5 lane busy street. holy shit. my router is connected via dsl to teh inarnets, then the first wrt54g (v1.0) is acting as a repeater in the living room. i plan on pluggin gmy xbox and ps2 into it. then from that repeater, it hops all the way over to drk's v2.2 wrt54g in the corner of his garage. then from there he is accessing it in his back bedroom via a pci dlink 802.11g card. right now site survey @ repeater 1 <> repeater 2 lists link @ 1MBit, but that's with the stock 2db rubber duck antennae. if it proves to be slow or unreliable, we're planning on building a cantenna on drk's side. i had stopped by ratschak earlier to pick up the 5db antennae but they were out. so i planned on just drawing all night and scrappign the project till the weekend. then i decided to see if sveasoft would go on my old 1.0. each step was a holy crap i cant believe that worked, let's try this next step! woo! dinner time. the wds setup i used here for the 2nd repeated i just added it's mac to the first repeater and vice versa. i also added the 2nd repeater's mac to the originating router.
